India secured victory in the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 Final held in Dubai, defeating New Zealand by four wickets.

They scored 254/6, as KL Rahul and Ravindra Jadeja completed the innings with one over remaining, following New Zealand’s earlier total of 251/7. The contest was even for a significant part of the India innings as the Black Caps claimed several rapid wickets.

The opening pair of Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill formed an impressive first-wicket partnership of 105, appearing to settle the outcome early, yet it was Glenn Phillips who delivered another remarkable performance. He made an incredible catch, jumping to his right to dismiss Gill for 31, off the bowling of Mitchell Santner.

Michael Bracewell dismissed new batter Virat Kohli lbw four deliveries later for only 1 run.

Rachin Ravindra concluded Rohit’s remarkable day by enticing him down the pitch, leadingto his stumping by Tom Latham for 76. Ravindra made another excellent catch to dismiss Shreyas Iyer on 48, with Axar Patel out three overs later, caught by Will O’Rourke from Michael Bracewell’s bowling.

Hardik Pandya produced a quick run-a-ball innings for 18, dismissed by Kyle Jamieson, who caught and bowled him in the 48th over. Thus, it fell upon Rahul and Jadeja to guide it to victory.

The Black Caps – already down Matt Henry, the tournament’s top wicket-taker due to injury – also lacked Kane Williamson in the field, who injured his quad while batting.

Previously, India dominated New Zealand as their spinners exerted influence during the match, with Varun Chakaravarthy and Kuldeep Yadav each capturing two wickets. They succeeded in limiting New Zealand to a run-rate of 3.30 during overs 11 to 30.
