India extend lead at top of WTC standings

Indian Men’s Cricket national team continue to prove their dominance in the current World Test Championship by completing an unexpected whitewash against Bangladesh.
India won the two-match test series with a 2-0 margin over Bangladesh with the victory in Kanpur on October 1, Tuesday. With this win, India extended their lead at the first place of the points table.
As of now, they are standing atop the table with the comfort cushion of 98 points in 11 matches with eight wins and a point percentage of 74.24 percent.
The closest competitors of the Men in Blue are Australia and Sri Lanka. The Kangaroos are at the second spot with 90 points in 12 matches and a point percentage of 62.50 percent.
The Lankan side recently climbed to the third spot after handing a nightmarish whitewash to New Zealand in the subcontinent with a 2-0 series sweep. In nine matches, Sri Lanka accumulated 60 points from five wins and a point percentage of 55.56 percent.
Bangladesh, the visitors of the recent series, dropped to seventh place after losing to India. They have won three matches, amassing 33 points and a point percentage of 34.38 percent.
The second test at Kanpur between India and Bangladesh was heavily affected by rain as play of day one and two were partially called off and day three was called off completely. India hurriedly started off day four as they were quick to get the Bangladesh batting lineup out at 233 runs and started hitting runs rampantly. After scoring 285 runs and losing nine wickets, they declared the innings and invited the visitors to bat again. They succumbed to the pressure and the whole team got out within 146 runs. India effortlessly chased the target of 95 runs and registered a seven-wicket win.
