Originally scheduled to be held in Bangladesh, the tournament has been relocated to the UAE, where it will take place in Dubai and Sharjah. On Monday, the International Cricket Council (ICC) announced the revised fixtures for the Women’s T20 World Cup 2024. Despite the change in venue, the tournament’s group structure remains unchanged. In Group A, six-time champions Australia will face off against India, the 2020 runners-up, alongside Trans-Tasman rivals New Zealand, and Asian teams Pakistan and Sri Lanka. Group B will include South Africa, England, the 2016 champions West Indies, Bangladesh, and Scotland.
Sri Lanka and Scotland earned their places in the tournament through the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup Qualifier held in Abu Dhabi earlier this year. Each team is set to compete in four group stage matches, with the top two teams from each group progressing to the semi-finals, which are scheduled for October 17 and 18. The final will be held on October 20 in Dubai, with additional reserve days allocated for the knockout stages.
The competition will feature a total of 23 matches across the two UAE venues, including 10 warm-up games from September 28 to October 1. If India advances to the semi-finals, they will be competing in Semi-final 1, adding to the high stakes of their anticipated matchups.
