India ready to assist: PM Modi after massive earthquake jolts Myanmar, Thailand

Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed his worry regarding two consecutive earthquakes measuring 7.7 and 6.4 that hit Myanmar earlier today. He contacted the Southeast Asian country and Thailand, promising help and offering prayers “for the safety and welfare of all.”
PM Modi said in a post on X. “Concerned by the situation in the wake of the Earthquake in Myanmar and Thailand. Praying for the safety and wellbeing of everyone. India stands ready to offer all possible assistance. In this regard, asked our authorities to be on standby. Also asked the MEA to remain in touch with the Governments of Myanmar and Thailand,” PM Modi said in a post on X.
The earthquake, noted at 12:50 pm local time, was sensed at great distances, with numerous areas in India, China, Thailand, and Bangladesh experiencing intense aftershocks. The epicentre was found 16 kilometres northwest of the city of Sagaing in Burma at a depth of 10 kilometres.
Multiple videos recorded shocking scenes of individuals fleeing from buildings and shopping centers in fear as the structures trembled violently.
