Indian Students From Ukraine Can Complete Their Remaining MBBS
According to the National Medical Commission (NMC), the Indian regulatory body for medical education, Indian students who had to stop their MBBS courses in Ukraine due to the Russian invasion can now pick up where they left off in medical colleges located in 29 countries, including the United States.
Czech Republic, France, Slovakia, Spain, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Poland, Austria, Azerbaijan, Lithuania, Moldova, Uzbekistan, US, Italy, Turkey, Croatia, Belgium, Egypt, Belarus, Latvia, Romania, Sweden, Israel, Iran, Bulgaria, Germany, Kyrgyzstan, Greece, and Hungary are among the 29 nations from which Indian students can continue their studies.
The NMC stated on September 6 that it has no issues with academic mobility schemes that would permit Indian MBBS students who had to return to their home countries to temporarily complete their coursework in other overseas universities. These students will continue to attend the parent Ukrainian University even though they are taking MBBS courses at other European universities.
The NMC has advised that the academic mobility program will only be applicable to medical colleges or institutes found in 29 countries, and medical students are advised to adopt the mobility program accordingly.
The parent medical university in Ukraine will provide them a degree diploma if they complete their MBBS courses at any of the 29 medical colleges, according to the NMC.
Between 20,000 and 22,000 Indian students—of whom 740 were from Telangana—had to unexpectedly withdraw from their MBBS programs in Ukraine and come home. The approval of the NMC for 29 nations will be a huge relief for Indian students who were enrolled in MBBS programs in Ukraine.
Many Ukrainian universities have been able to work in conjunction with their European counterparts in recent months so that exchange programs for international students can be given as part of academic mobility initiatives.
