IndiGo’s FIRST reaction as DGCA issues show cause notice over ‘lapses’ in simulator training to 1,700 pilots

IndiGo said it is reviewing the show-cause warning it received from the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA), the aviation regulator, for alleged shortcomings in simulator training that was given to around 1,700 pilots.

In its first reaction to the show-cause notice, IndiGo’s Spokesperson said, “We confirm receipt of a show-cause notice issued by the DGCA pertaining to the simulator training of some of our pilots. We are in the process of reviewing the same and will respond to the regulator within the stipulated timeline.”

“We remain committed to ensuring the highest standards of safety and compliance across our operations,” the airline added.

The show-cause notice was given following a review of the airline’s records and responses last month, according to news agency . According to the  sources, the DGCA discovered that about 1,700 pilots, including first officers and pilots in command, received Category C, or essential airfield, training using unqualified simulators.

According to sources cited by the new agency PTI, the regulator discovered that the simulators used to train the approximately 1,700 pilots were unfit for use in specific airports, including Calicut, Leh, and Kathmandu.There are extra restrictions for fly operations at some airports, such as Calicut, which has a table-top runway.
