INTERNATIONAL DAY OF YOGA CELEBRATED BY NCC WEST BENGAL & SIKKIM
1. NCC Cadets of West Bengal & Sikkim Directorate and its six Group HQs participated with enthusiasm in both the States on the occasion of INTERNATIONAL DAY OF YOGA. This year’s theme is Yoga for Humanity. The central program was organized at Eastern Command Stadium Fort William Kolkata.
2. Over 39,600 Cadets, NCC Officers and Army Trainers performed various Yog Asanas from 0700 am to 0800 am as per the Protocol given by Ministry of AYUSH at various venues in West Bengal & Sikkim. Even Families of Armed Forces personnels were seen participating enthusiastically in the Yoga session organized under the aegis of NCC Directorate West Bengal & Sikkim. This whole event was conductedunder the leadership of Major General U. S. Sengupta Sena Medal Additional Director General NCC Directorate West Bengal and Sikkim.
3. NCC grooms the youth into Disciplined & Valued Citizens and it has been at the forefront of ‘NATION BUILDING’. Its Cadets have been conducting social awareness and community development programmes to flag important social issues in the public mind-space and conscience. This ‘International Day of Yoga’ has added another feather to the cap of this vibrant youth organization of volunteers. The importance of Yoga as a holistic mind-body exercise has been raised in the public and if persisted with, shall deliver excellent results in the sphere of public health and even as it reduces lifestyle diseases.
