According to Iranian Deputy Health Minister Ali Jafarian, assaults by the United States and Israel have largely killed and injured residents throughout his nation, and the shelling of oil installations has resulted in the spread of poisonous smog throughout Tehran, the country’s capital.
According to Jafarian, at least 1,255 people have died in Iran, including 11 medical professionals and 200 children. They were eight months to eighty-eight years old. He also stated that about 12,000 individuals had been injured, primarily from burns and crush injuries. Insisting that most of the victims were civilians, Jafarian said: “They were living in their homes or [were] at their workplace.”
29 clinical facilities have been damaged thus far, and 10 of them had to close. In addition, 15 ambulances, 18 emergency services locations, and 52 health centers have been damaged or destroyed. After Israeli airstrikes struck Iran’s oil facilities late on Saturday for the first time since the war began, killing at least four people, Jafarian issued a warning about health dangers for the populace.
“The whole city was dark until the afternoon yesterday,” he told, referring to thick smoke that filled the sky over Tehran.
The attacks caused massive fires at the Shahran oil storage in western Tehran, the Tehran refinery in the south, and the Aghdasieh oil warehouse in northeastern Tehran. The minister recommended locals to stay indoors with their windows closed and cautioned that those who are most susceptible, such as youngsters and the elderly, may experience respiratory issues as a result.
Additionally, he said that acid rain would contaminate the soil and have a long-lasting effect on the environment.Since the strikes started on February 28, more than 200 Iranian cities have been attacked, according to Jafarian, who maintained that the majority of the targets were civilians. On Monday, explosions were reported in Qom and Tehran as the US and Israel continued to pound Iran.
