Iran Open to US Talks in Pakistan, Rejects Claims of Reluctance

Amid continuing tensions in West Asia, Iran has expressed its willingness to engage in dialogue with the United States, clarifying that it has never refused proposals to participate in mediation talks hosted in Pakistan. The statement comes in response to reports suggesting Tehran had been hesitant to join negotiations facilitated by Islamabad.

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi dismissed such claims, asserting that the country’s position had been misrepresented. He reiterated that Iran remains open to attending discussions in Islamabad and welcomed Pakistan’s initiative to mediate between the two sides. According to him, diplomatic engagement has not been ruled out, contrary to what some reports have suggested.

However, the minister emphasised that Iran’s participation in any talks would be conditional and outcome-oriented.
