Jaishankar Shares Message of Solidarity: India Strengthens Ties with Marshall Islands Through Community Development Projects

External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar delivered a message of solidarity and partnership during the signing ceremony of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) aimed at funding four community development projects in the Marshall Islands.

Opening his address with warm greetings, Jaishankar expressed India’s pleasure in facilitating the MoU for community development initiatives in the Republic of the Marshall Islands. He commended the recent achievements of the Marshall Islands, including their successful hosting of the 10th Micronesian Games and participation in the 10th International Day of Yoga celebrations.

Highlighting the longstanding friendship between India and the Marshall Islands, Jaishankar noted the expansion of bilateral relations under the Forum of India Pacific Islands Cooperation (FIPIC). He recalled Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s commitment to supporting Pacific islands during the third FIPIC summit, emphasizing India’s responsibility in promoting sustainable development in these oceanic nations.

Addressing the common challenges faced by Pacific island nations, Jaishankar reaffirmed India’s commitment to collaborating on issues such as climate change resilience, disaster management, poverty reduction, and healthcare improvement. He underscored India’s proactive role in fulfilling commitments made during the FIPIC summits, emphasizing the progress made in achieving these goals.

Regarding the specifics of the MoU, Jaishankar highlighted its significance in advancing infrastructure and community welfare in the Marshall Islands. Projects include proposals for desalination units and dialysis machines, aimed at enhancing local infrastructure and healthcare facilities.

Jaishankar outlined India’s priority areas for cooperation with Pacific island nations, focusing on healthcare infrastructure, renewable energy, capacity building, and sustainable development. He reiterated India’s readiness to deepen engagement with Indo-Pacific partners, affirming ongoing support for regional development and prosperity.

In conclusion, Jaishankar reiterated India’s commitment to fostering strong bilateral relations with the Marshall Islands and other Indo-Pacific nations.
