News Mania Desk / Piyal Chatterjee / 14th February 2025

Jiocinema and Disney+ Hotstar have officially partnered to launch a new OTT platform — JioHotstar. The announcement states that the new platform will support content in 10 different languages. Along with material from the two companies that are merging, the platform will also include titles from diverse global studios and streaming platforms. JioHotstar will also compile content from sources such as NBCUniversal Peacock, Warner Bros, Discovery, HBO, and Paramount, a feature currently unmatched by any other streaming service.

JioHotstar is presently available for free, allowing users to view content without any subscription. Nevertheless, films or shows will display advertisements during breaks. This is a comparable approach that Jiocinema employed prior to the merger. However, for those seeking an ad-free experience, the platform has announced that subscription plans will be offered for users desiring higher resolution streaming, beginning at Rs 149 each quarter. Let’s explore further the pricing and subscription options.

JioHotstar has announced that the app provides two subscription options: Super and Premium. The main distinction is that by subscribing to the Super plan, you will receive all the premium content, but it will include advertisements. The Premium plans are designed to provide an ad-free experience. For mobile users, a subscription to the JioHotstar app costs Rs 149 every three months, requiring renewal quarterly. The plan is also available for purchase at Rs 499 annually. This plan allows you to access the platform solely on one device at any given time.
