Kripanath Mallah endorses Bishunupriya Manipuris’ demand for OBC status
NEW DELHI, Feb 16 – Bishnupriya Manipuris of Assam were recognized as OBCs in Assam in 2012. The Assam state government applied for the inclusion of Bishnupriya Manipuris at the Centre. In its reply, the NCBC sent a directive to the OBC Commission for an economic survey of the Bishnupriya Manipuris. In the year 2021, the OBC Commission sent a survey report to the Centre. But to date, no solution has been found.
As a result, the students or youth of the Bishnupriya Manipuri community face various difficulties in the field of education or employment. Bishnupriya Manipuri Unnayan Parishad Vice President Samarjit Singh sought help from Karimganj Lok Sabha MP Kripanath Mallah regarding this serious issue.
On 8th February 2024, the MP and Council Vice President met Divisional Union Minister Pratima Bhoumik in Delhi and requested an early solution. Just before the elections, the MP and the Vice President believe that community issues will be taken seriously.
