Leader of Religious Conversion Syndicate and Accomplice Detained in Uttar Pradesh

 The Anti-Terrorism Squad of the Uttar Pradesh Police has apprehended the suspected leader of a religious conversion gang along with his accomplice.According to an official statement released on Saturday, Jalaluddin, also known as Chhangur Baba, and his co-accused Neetu, referred to as Nasreen, are both residents of Madhpur in the Balrampur district.

A non-bailable warrant had been issued by the court for Jalaluddin’s arrest, and the police announced a cash reward of Rs 50,000 for information leading to his capture, as stated in the report.The two individuals were presented before a court and were subsequently remanded to Lucknow District Jail after the necessary legal procedures were followed.

The case, which has been filed at a police station in Gomtinagar, Lucknow, involves multiple charges under various sections of the Indian Penal Code and the Uttar Pradesh Prohibition of Unlawful Religious Conversion Act, 2021. It is alleged that the accused operated in a systematic manner to convert individuals from Hindu and non-Muslim communities to Islam.

“The poor, helpless labourers, weaker sections, and widowed women were lured with incentives, financial aid, promises of marriage, or forced through intimidation, in violation of established procedures for religious conversion by the accused,” according to the statement.

Two other accused — Naveen alias Jamaluddin and Mehboob, who is Jalaluddin’s son — were arrested on April 8. Both hail from Balrampur and are currently lodged in Lucknow District Jail, the statement said.
