Lions Club of Kolkata Artistic Forum presented an awareness program and workshop on Prevention on Sexual Abuse and protection. The session was taken by Guest Speaker Dr.Maitree Mukherjee, Physiological Counsellor, Motivational Speaker, and Performing Art Therapy Practitioner on 18 September 2024 at Chittaranjan Colony Hindu Vidyapith for Girls- Baguiati, Kolkata.



This workshop was for teachers, social workers, psychologists, and others who work directly with children especially girls. It covers topics like children’s rights, gender sensitivity, and disclosures. Personal Safety Education Programme’s main aim is  to reduce the risk of sexual abuse for children by strengthening protective factors. It’s delivered in schools, and includes age-appropriate content.It also included activities like a presentation exercise and a motivation exercise with tips to safe from Sexual abuse and harassment.


The Workshop was also attended by  Guest Retd.Deputy Commissioner Partha Sarathi Mukherjee who further guided the students with protective and self defence tips with legal awareness of such crime. The programme was successful under the precious guidance and effort of Convener Lions Amaresh Kumar Ray, President Prabhir Sinha Ray,  Secretary Lions Rabindranath Dutta, and Treasurer Lions Supriya Kumar Lahiri.


The training featured the nuances of child sexual abuse, the POCSO law, helping children identifying body parts, differentiating between safe touch, unsafe touch and confusing touch and what to do in case they find touching uncomfortable.
