The Indian Railway mishap circus continues as two coaches of the New Delhi- Islampur Magadh Express split apart from the running train near the Buxar district of Bihar Sunday morning. However, on a positive note, as confirmed by Danapur divisional railway manager Jayant Kumar Choudhary, no one was injured by this incident.

The incident happened at 11.07 am on September 8 between Twininganj and Raghunathpur stations on DDU-Patna mainline. Sharswati Chandra, Chief Public Relation Officer (CPRO), East Central Railway, said to PTI, “The 20802 Down Magadh Express travelling from New Delhi to Islampur passed Twiniganj at around 11:07 am. The train’s coupling between the 13th and 14th coach from the engine broke at around 11:08 am while it was running between Twiniganj and Raghunathpur stations. A rescue team as well as technical teams have reached the spot and officials are trying to rectify the issue at the earliest. An inquiry will be ordered to find the exact cause. The faulty S6 coach was detached and repaired while passengers were moved to other coaches. The coaches were carefully reattached and brought to Raghunathpur.”

The Islampur-bound train left Dumraon station at around 10:58 am. After a few minutes, the coupling between the S6 and S7 coaches broke near Twiningang. The train along with the S7 coach and the AC coaches kept moving forward until the loco pilot noticed it and made a halt. The passengers were panicky and thought the train had derailed. Some passengers also got off the train and gathered at the tracks.

The Railways have been under the fire several times this year as many accidents ocurred which resulted in numerous deaths.
