Prime Minister Narendra Modi has significantly ramped up the Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) campaign in the run-up to the West Bengal Assembly elections, announcing a series of rallies across strategically important regions of the state. The move reflects the party’s renewed push to strengthen its presence and challenge the ruling All India Trinamool Congress (TMC).

The campaign phase began with a major rally in Haldia, setting the tone for a day filled with political engagements. As part of the schedule, Modi was slated to address three rallies in a single day, covering Purba Medinipur, Asansol, and Suri in Birbhum district. These areas are considered crucial battlegrounds, encompassing industrial belts, semi-urban pockets, and rural constituencies where the BJP is aiming to expand its voter base.

Despite meticulous planning, the campaign faced disruptions due to adverse weather conditions. Heavy rainfall in parts of southern West Bengal caused delays and logistical hurdles, impacting the timing of the rallies. Nevertheless, the events remained central to the BJP’s strategy to maintain momentum and engage directly with voters ahead of the polls.

In his speeches, Modi reiterated the importance of a “double-engine government,” highlighting the benefits of having the same party in power at both the Centre and the state. He argued that such alignment would ensure faster development, improved governance, and efficient implementation of welfare schemes. At the same time, he launched strong criticism against the TMC, accusing it of corruption, poor governance, and failing to address issues related to employment and law and order.

The Prime Minister also outlined several promises aimed at attracting different sections of voters. These included potential benefits for government employees and a broader emphasis on infrastructure development and economic progress. By targeting a wide demographic, the BJP hopes to position itself as a credible alternative to the incumbent administration. his series of rallies marks one of Modi’s most intensive campaign efforts since the election schedule was announced. Political analysts see it as a clear indication of the BJP’s determination to mount a strong challenge in West Bengal, a politically significant state in eastern India.
