Defending ISL Shield champions Mohun Bagan Super Giants have bolstered their squad by signing Jamie Maclaren, the prolific Australian striker, to a four-year contract. Maclaren, aged 30, stands as the all-time leading scorer in Australia’s A-League with an impressive tally of 154 goals. His arrival is expected to significantly impact the team’s performance in the upcoming seasons.
Maclaren expressed his excitement about joining Mohun Bagan, highlighting the club’s storied history and ambitious goals as key factors in his decision. “I’ve been following Indian football for quite some time, from the era of Iain Hume, which was featured on Australian sports channels. The ISL has showcased some remarkable talents, and the main reasons for my choice are Mohun Bagan’s rich history and their aspirations, which align closely with my own. I’ve achieved a lot in Australia, and I’m eager to contribute to this already successful group of players and staff,” Maclaren stated.
Despite a stellar career, including his most recent appearance in the 2026 FIFA World Cup Qualifiers and a previous stint in the 2022 World Cup, Maclaren’s signing with Mohun Bagan adds significant firepower to the team. His notable performances, such as being part of the Australian squad that faced Argentina in the 2022 World Cup Round of 16, underscore his credentials as a top-class striker.
Maclaren has also shown admiration for the passionate atmosphere in Indian football, particularly the Kolkata derby. “Having watched the Kolkata derby, the sight of over 60,000 fans is incredible.
