Medical aid group Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) has reported that Palestinian women and children in Gaza continue to sustain serious injuries from Israeli military actions, despite nearly six weeks of an officially declared ceasefire between Israel and Hamas. Teams operating in clinics across Gaza City and Rafah say they are still receiving patients — including minors — suffering from gunshot wounds and severe trauma, such as open fractures to the limbs and head.

Medical staff recounted several alarming cases, including that of a nine-year-old girl who arrived with a major facial wound allegedly caused by fire from an Israeli drone. MSF health workers described the incident as one of many reflecting the continued dangers faced by civilians, even during the truce period.

The organisation strongly criticised the ongoing violence, urging all parties to prioritise the protection of civilians, healthcare workers, and medical facilities. According to MSF, repeated violations of the ceasefire have made it difficult for residents to feel any sense of safety, particularly in areas heavily monitored or controlled by Israeli forces.

Under the current ceasefire terms, Israeli troops have been repositioned but still maintain significant control over more than half of the Gaza Strip. Gaza City remains under the administration of Hamas, while Rafah continues to experience Israeli military oversight. Humanitarian groups say the arrangement has done little to lessen the hardships faced by families trapped in conflict-affected zones.

Gaza’s health authorities have reported hundreds of Palestinian deaths since early October, while international agencies monitoring the situation say dozens of children have been killed or injured during the truce. MSF has called for stronger humanitarian guarantees, warning that without improved protection and access, even an official ceasefire cannot prevent further civilian casualties.
