‘Inaccurate’ JEE Main 2025 questions incite anger, emails remain unanswered

News Mania Desk / Piyal Chatterjee / 15th April 2025

Only days following the NEET UG dispute, the National Testing Agency (NTA) is encountering severe backlash again — this occasion due to factual errors and technical problems in the JEE Main 2025 Session 2 examination.

Students, parents, and teachers are outraged following the publication of the provisional answer key and response sheets on April 11. The recent uproar was ignited by students from Kota, Rajasthan — the largest coaching center for engineering hopefuls in India, according to a Times of India article. These students identified at least nine dubious responses in the JEE Main 2025 April 9 exam.

The mistakes cover all three main subjects: four in physics, three in chemistry, and two in mathematics. Students assert that the issues are not merely challenging questions — they are factually wrong and could significantly impact scores. Leading coaching institutes and subject specialists supported the students’ statements, indicating that the problems demonstrate inadequate quality control by NTA for such an important national examination.

The issue goes beyond just the answer key. Several candidates and their parents reported major errors in the response sheets shared by NTA. Some students said their selected answers were wrongly recorded, while others found the sheets showing blank responses.

Pramod Kamath, who is also a parent, posted on social media, “Indeed my daughter attempted 71 questions. During submission it showed 71 questions attempted & now in the response sheet it is showing all questions as unanswered! Shocking! NTA is playing with the future of children. No response on email!”

Congress leader Supriya Shrinate posted in Hindi on X:

“The NTA is already facing questions over the conduct of competitive exams – last year’s CUET-UG, NEET-UG answer sheets also had errors. Is the NTA capable of conducting these exams? Was the tension of unemployment and paper leaks not enough for our youth that now they have to deal with a weak NTA as well?”
