After his remarks on Samay Raina’s YouTube program, India’s Got Latent, caused controversy, YouTuber-podcaster Ranveer Allahbadia issued an apology. “My comment was not just inappropriate, it was not even funny. Comedy is not my forte. I’m sorry,” he said in a video statement Monday.

Earlier today, a police complaint was allegedly lodged against Ranveer and Samay, along with YouTubers Ashish Chanchalani and Apoorva Mukhija, commonly known as the Rebel Kid, who also served as judges on the show. Nonetheless, no FIR has been filed. The complaint has been filed with the Mumbai Commissioner and the Maharashtra Women’s Commission. It claims that the YouTubers employed offensive language during the show and demands harsh legal measures against those implicated.

During a conversation with a participant on India’s Got Talent, Ranveer inquired, “Would you prefer to see your parents engage in sex forever or participate once to end it?” A clip of Ranveer posing the question became popular on social media, leading users to criticize him for his unsuitable comments.  Ranveer is well known for his YouTube channel BeerBiceps, where he presents numerous podcasts with notable personalities from Indian politics, Bollywood, business, and spirituality.

Ranveer has now apologised for his remark. He took to X and shared a video of himself. He said in the clip, “My comment wasn’t just inappropriate it wasn’t even funny. Comedy isn’t my forte I am just going to say sorry.” He added, “I am not going to give any context or justification just want to give my apology. Had a lapse in my judgement. the podcast is watched by people of all age groups and don’t want to take that responsibility lightly. Family is the last thing I would disrespect.”

Following the backlash, Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis addressed the controversy. He stated, “I have come to know about it. I have not seen it yet. Things have been said and presented in a wrong way. Everyone has freedom of speech, but our freedom ends when we encroach upon the freedom of others. In our society, we have made some rules, and if someone violates them, it is absolutely wrong and action should be taken against them.”
