Mission 2024: BJP stalwarts, Nadda, to rally in Punjab to mark 9 yrs of Modi Government

Alarmed at the series of electoral setbacks in Karnataka, and Jalandhar in Punjab, BJP stalwarts and party president J P Nadda are set to hold rallies, in hope to revive pro-Modi wave by recounting achievements of 9 years of Modi Government.

Nadda will address rally in Hoshiarpur district on 14 June. Some reports say Union Home Minister Amit Shah, too, is visiting Punjab on 18 June to address a “massive” rally at Gurdaspur. Party sources have not confirmed it yet.

Ahead of scheduled rallies, Governor of Punjab Banwari Lal Purohit will tour the border districts of state. Purohit will start with Dera Baba Nanak and will visit Pathankot, Gurdaspur, Amritsar, Tarn Taran, Fazilka and Ferozepur on 7 and 8 June.

Purohit will listen to the problems of people living close Pakistan border, fraught with smuggling of drugs and weapons which are also dropped of by drones sneaking in and slinking back to Pakistan side.  Weapons and drugs from here are picked up, supplied to as far as gangsters in UP and Bihar. NIA is also conducting raids in the state to break the gangster-terrorist nexus which surfaced after sensational, broad day light murder of famous singer Sidhu Moosewala in his hometown last May.

BJP went solo in the state for parliamentary seat for the first time after Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) broke ties over the farmers laws. As a divided house, both parties lost badly to Aam Adami Party (AAP) in Jalandhar bye-elections. BJP candidate Inder Iqbal Singh Atwal even forfeited his security deposit. However, observers feel despite defeat, BJP put up an impressive show by garnering 15.6 per cent vote share and recorded an impressive leads in two assembly segments. Some analysts feel since both parties have “paid price” for breaking the alliance, a re-union for 2024 can not be ruled out.
