Naga Chaitanya and Sobhita Dhulipala are getting married shortly. Sobhita posted stunning images from a pre-wedding ceremony on Monday. “Godhuma Raayi Pasupu danchatam,” she wrote as the caption for the photo. And so it starts! The location of the ceremony was Vishakhapatnam.
Godhuma is the word for wheat. “Raayi” means “stone.” Pasupu refers to turmeric. Danchatam means to grind or smash. Thus, “crushing wheat, stone, and turmeric together” is an approximate translation of the phrase. In the context of Telugu marriages, it is significant. The bride and groom grind wheat, turmeric, and occasionally additional ingredients together on a grinding stone (raayi) as part of a customary ceremony. This action marks the start of their life together, during which they will collaborate, share duties, and get ready for a new stage of life.
In this sense, the gesture represents harmony, collaboration, and the notion that marriage entails both parties cooperating amicably. In a Telugu wedding, it is one of several customary ceremonies that emphasize the union of the bride and husband.
Sobhita wore a peach gold and green silk saree for the ceremony. As she touched their feet and accepted the blessings of the elders, she was encircled by her loved ones. As is traditional, she ground the turmeric as well.
In 2021, Chay and actress Samantha Ruth Prabhu called their quits on their marriage. The family was recently involved in a significant issue after Telangana Minister Konda Surekha connected the divorce of actors Naga Chaitanya and Samantha Ruth Prabhu to KT Rama Rao, the head of the Bharat Rashtra Samiti.
