Nation Observes Martyrs’ Day 2026; Top Leadership Pays Tribute to Mahatma Gandhi at Rajghat

India solemnly observed Martyrs’ Day on January 30, 2026, marking the 78th death anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, the Father of the Nation, who was assassinated on this day in 1948.

On the occasion, President Droupadi Murmu, Vice President C.P. Radhakrishnan, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, and several Union Ministers paid floral tributes to Mahatma Gandhi at Rajghat, New Delhi. A prayer meeting was held, and a two-minute silence was observed in his memory, honoring his supreme sacrifice and timeless ideals.

Remembering Gandhiji, leaders reiterated the nation’s commitment to his principles of truth, non-violence, peace, and harmony. They emphasized that his teachings continue to guide India and the world in addressing contemporary challenges through dialogue, tolerance, and moral strength.

Martyrs’ Day serves as a reminder of the sacrifices made by Mahatma Gandhi and countless freedom fighters, inspiring citizens to uphold the values that form the foundation of India’s democracy and unity.
