National Film Awards 2024: Complete Winners List Highlights Stellar Performances and Outstanding Films

The 2024 National Film Awards, announced on August 16, showcased an impressive array of cinematic achievements, honoring a diverse range of films and talents from across the Indian film industry. This year’s awards celebrated both critical and popular successes, with notable wins highlighting exceptional performances and innovative filmmaking.
The Best Feature Film award went to Aattam, which stood out for its compelling narrative and creative direction. In the category of Best Popular Film, Kantara emerged victorious, continuing its streak of accolades from earlier successes. The Best Actor award was claimed by Rishab Shetty for his outstanding performance in Kantara, further cementing his reputation as a leading talent in Indian cinema.
In a notable recognition of female talent, Nithya Menon and Manasi Parekh shared the Best Actress award, acknowledging their remarkable performances in their respective roles. Sooraj Barjatya was honored with the Best Director award, recognizing his exceptional contribution to filmmaking. The Best Supporting Actress accolade went to Neena Gupta, while Pawan Malhotra received the Best Supporting Actor award for his impactful performance.
The Best Debut award was given to Fouja and Pramod Kumar, highlighting their impressive entries into the film industry. In the regional categories, Kartikeya 2 was named Best Telugu Film, Ponniyin Selvan – Part 1 won Best Tamil Film, Baaghi Di Dhee was recognized as the Best Punjabi Film, and Daman was awarded Best Odia Film. The Best Malayalam Film title was awarded to Soudi Velakka CC.225/2009, while Vaalvi was named Best Marathi Film. KGF: Chapter 2 won the Best Kannada Film award, and Gulmohar was honored as the Best Hindi Film.
Special mentions were made for Manoj Bajpayee’s performance in Gulmohar and Sanjoy Salil Chowdhury’s work on Kalikhan. The Best Action Direction award was given to KGF: Chapter 2, while the Best Choreography accolade went to Tiruchitrabalam. Fouja was recognized for Best Lyrics, and Pritam received the Best Music Director award for his work on Brahmastra. AR Rahman was awarded Best Background Score for Ponniyin Selvan 2, and Anand Krishnamurthy won Best Sound Design for the same film.
In the technical categories, Aparajito excelled in Best Makeup, Best Costumes, and Best Production Design. The Best Editing award was also won by Aattam. The Best Screenplay award went to Aattam, and Gulmohar took home the Best Dialogues award. Ponniyin Selvan – Part 1 was recognized for Best Cinematography, while Soudi Velakka CC.225/2009 and Brahmastra shared the Best Female Playback award.
The Best VFX award was given to Brahmastra, showcasing the film’s excellence in visual effects. Arijit Singh was named Best Playback Singer Male for his contribution to Brahmastra, further highlighting the film’s success on multiple fronts.
