National Press Day celebrated by Accredited Journalists Association &  Press Club of India

Accredited Journalists Association and Press Club of India organized National Press Day 2024 on 16th November 2024, in which outstanding journalists  were honored. The program was organized  at  Press Club of India,New Delhi. 
 
The inauguration was done by Press Club of India President Gautam Lahiri, who stressed the need for a free and responsible press. Emphasizing the unifying role of journalism, he said, “Journalism should not be divided. It should be promoted as a form of dialogue. Today is journalism’s day—let us work together for its integrity and well-being.” He described the Press Club as “the second home of journalists”, calling its representation on Press Council “a major achievement”.
The program was moderated by Accredited Journalists Association President Vijay Shankar Chaturvedi.
 
The highlight of the program was the release of a special souvenir by Shri Ramakant Goswami, Former Minister, Government of National Capital Territory of Delhi. During this, Ramakant Goswami, while throwing light on the changing nature of journalism, said, “Journalism, media and loyalty are all changing. Hence there is a need to address the enduring challenges with clarity and determination.”
 
Accredited Journalists Association honored journalists who have made significant contributions in the field of journalism. The journalists   honored include Mr. Arun Joshi, Mr. Sunil Negi, Mr. Dinesh Sharma, Mr. Anil Sharma (Editor, Bharat TV), Mr. Vijay Sharma (Editor, Veer Arjun), Mr. Shivendra (Journalist, Aaj Samaj), Mr. Naveen Gautam, Mr. Pradeep Chaturvedi, Mr. Rajeev Gupta (Photojournalist), Mr. Sandeep Sharma (Editor, MKM), Ms. Julia Gangwani (Editor, Bluemoon), and Ms. Banpani Panda (Editor-in-Chief, Baradasta, Odisha).
 
Shri Jai Prakash Aggarwal ( Former MP), Shri Manoj Sharma (PR- Director) , 
Shri Rajkumar (Additional Director General, PIB), Shri Prakash Vaidya (Director of Nehru Yuva Kendra Sangathan), Shri Neeraj Thakur (General Secretary of Press Club of India) Shri. Cowdley Channappa ( General Secretary AJA) and Shri S.K. Bhandari (retired IAS and former Secretary, Government of India) also graced the occasion.
