Netflix Unveils Teaser for ‘IC 814: The Kandahar Hijack’ with Star-Studded Cast

Netflix has dropped the teaser for its upcoming series, IC 814: The Kandahar Hijack, bringing to light a harrowing chapter from recent history. This new series, set to premiere on August 29, features an impressive ensemble cast including Naseeruddin Shah, Pankaj Kapur, Vijay Varma, Arvind Swamy, and Dia Mirza, among others. The series is helmed by creators and writers Anubhav Sinha and Trishant Srivastava, with a storyline developed by Adrien Levy and Trishant Srivastava.
The show delves into the chilling events of December 24, 1999, when Indian Airlines Flight IC 814, en route from Kathmandu to New Delhi, was hijacked by terrorists. The aircraft was diverted to multiple locations before finally landing in Kandahar, Afghanistan, an ordeal that captivated the world. The one-minute teaser offers a glimpse into the intense narrative, showcasing Vijay Varma in the role of the flight’s pilot as the plane is overtaken by hijackers. As the crisis unfolds, the teaser also depicts the frantic efforts of Indian officials striving to manage the situation and ensure the safety of those on board.

The final leg of the journey saw the plane arrive in Kandahar, where negotiations with the Taliban government were crucial for the passengers’ release.
The narrative highlights the intense negotiations that led to the release of the hostages, including the controversial decision by India to release Masood Azhar, Omar Saeed Sheikh, and Mushtaq Ahmed Zargar, individuals linked to the terror group Harkat-ul-Mujahideen.
