Netflix has recently added another gem to its rom-com collection with the premiere of “Miss Night And Day,” a Korean drama that has quickly captured the attention of viewers. This new series, replacing “Atypical Family” starring Jang Ki Yong and Chun Woo Hee, has debuted with strong viewership ratings, signaling a promising start in the competitive K-drama landscape.

Starring Lee Jung Eun, Apink’s Jung Eun Ji, and Choi Jin Hyuk, “Miss Night And Day” made its debut on June 15th and immediately surpassed its predecessor in domestic rankings. According to Nielsen Korea, the series achieved an average nationwide rating of 4.0 percent during its premiere, compared to “Atypical Family” which garnered 3.3 percent. This success is bolstered by the show’s availability on Netflix, ensuring global audiences can enjoy the series every Saturday and Sunday at 22:30 KST.

The storyline of “Miss Night And Day” adds a unique twist to the romantic comedy genre. It follows Lee Mi Jin, a young woman in her twenties struggling with multiple part-time jobs. Her life takes an unexpected turn when she magically switches into the body of a 50-year-old during the day, while reverting to her youthful self at night. Determined to seize the opportunity presented by this dual existence, Mi Jin navigates her newfound daytime challenges while using her youthful persona to pursue her dream career. Alongside her, Gye Ji Woong, a meticulous prosecutor, becomes intertwined in her intriguing “Night and Day” life, adding layers of complexity and humor to the narrative.

Meanwhile, on tvN, “The Midnight Romance in Hagwon” continues to maintain a solid viewership despite past controversies surrounding the series. Starring Wi Ha Joon and Jung Ryeo Won, the drama has secured its position at the top spot in its time slot across all cable networks. With an average nationwide rating of 3.4 percent, the series follows tvN’s successful streak post-“Queen of Tears,” showcasing its ability to resonate with audiences despite initial challenges.

As the season progresses, other dramas in the Korean entertainment landscape have also made their mark. MBN’s historical drama “Missing Crown Prince,” featuring EXO’s Suho, garnered a respectable average nationwide rating of 4.2 percent, highlighting its appeal among viewers of historical genres. Meanwhile, SBS’s suspenseful mini-series “Connection” continues to lead with an impressive average nationwide rating of 9.1 percent, reaffirming its status as a top contender in the competitive drama landscape.
