Newborn Girl Found Dumped In Basket In Navi Mumbai, ‘Sorry’ Note Recovered

A newborn girl, just three days old, was discovered abandoned in a basket in Navi Mumbai, where her parents left a note apologizing and stating they could not care for her because of their financial struggles, police reported on Sunday.

On Saturday, a nearby resident informed the police about a baby found in a blue basket on the roadside in Takka Colony, located in the Panvel area of Navi Mumbai. An official stated that the police swiftly arrived at the location and took the child into their care. A note in English was discovered in the basket, in which the newborn’s parents stated that their financial situation was unstable, preventing them from raising the child, he mentioned.

The girl’s parents also said “sorry” in the note, as they were not able to do anything and had no other option, the official added.

The baby was taken to a pediatrician by the police, who examined her and confirmed she was stable, he stated. The official stated that the police were looking for the parents of the girl.

The Panvel Town police have filed a case against unknown individuals under appropriate sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita for allegedly abandoning the infant, he stated.
