NIPS-CHRISTMAS CAKE MIXING CARNIVAL THROUGH THE EYES OF BOBBY CHAKRABORTY
December ushers in the mood of Christmas and Santa Claus. People around the world gather to celebrate the holiday season. In many countries, one of the most popular Christmas traditions is cake mixing. It’s a tradition that dates back to the middle ages. It was originally done as a way to preserve fruitcakes and other sweets during the winter months. The process of cake mixing involves combining dried fruits, nuts, and spices with flour, sugar, and eggs. This mixture is then baked into a cake or pudding. The tradition of cake mixing began in England, but it quickly spread to the other parts of the world.
On 2nd December, NIPS Hospitality group, under The Founder Director Dr. Vivek Pathak and Faces, under The President Mr. Imran Zaki organised a gala Christmas Cake Mixing Carnival on the sprawling Kolkata Campus Ground of the NIPS Hospitality Management Institute. Dignitaries from all walks of life were invited for an evening of fun, frolic, music, games, prizes and delicious cuisines. Among the special guests of the event we had actor/activist/teacher of method acting Bobby Chakraborty, who gave us a first hand account of the glitzy event.
Here’s what Bobby said:-
“I thank Dr. Pathak and Imran Bhai for inviting me to this colourful event, organised with a lot of care and skillful planning by the Administration, Faculty and the students of NIPS Hospitality Management, Kolkata and Faces. I was touched by their warmth and hospitality. I must also mention the care and affection of the Assistant Director Mr. Ranabir Ray towards every guest of the evening.
The ground looked marvellously colourful, red being the predominant colour of Christmas. There were various stalls all around, some had games, others had delicious cuisines prepared by the students and faculties from their in-house bakery named Windsor Bakery. There were lucky draw coupons which had 10 lucky winners winning some coveted gifts. The noted educationists of the city were felicitated and I got the opportunity to felicitate Sunita Sen Ma’am, The Principal of The BSS School, who is very near to my heart. The DJ played some foot tapping music which made everyone groove carefree, including me!
The main attraction of the evening being the cake mixing session, had an elaborate spread of dry fruits, nuts, grains and spices , which were merrily mixed by the guests , all decked up in a chef’s attire, including me.
The cheerful mood was infectious and it was great to see everyone wearing a bright smile on their faces, as they left the venue, a parting Gift Box in their hands, gearing up for the upcoming festivities. “
