OBSERVANCE OF WORLD DIABETES DAY BY ORTHOPAEDIC HOSPITAL, HOWRAH

One in 10 adults worldwide has diabetes, with over 90% of them having type-2 diabetes. The focus of World Diabetes Day 2021-23 is the prevention of Type-2 Diabetes and related complications. The theme for this year’s World Diabetes Day is “Access to Diabetes Care,” aiming to raise awareness for better prevention, diagnosis, and management.
Under the inspiration of Dr. Debasish Guha, Chief Medical Superintendent/Howrah, Eastern Railway’s Orthopaedic Hospital, Howrah, observed World Diabetes Day 2023. Dr. Jaydeep Ghosh, Additional Divisional Medical Officer/Physician/Howrah, presented various aspects of diabetes, emphasizing early diagnosis and treatment to prevent complications such as blindness, kidney failure, heart attack, and stroke. Dr. Asish Kumar Bhattacharya, Additional Chief Medical Superintendent/Dermatology/Howrah, discussed the cutaneous manifestations of diabetes.
Dr. Chaitali Patra, Divisional Medical Officer/Pediatrics/Howrah, addressed diabetes in children, while Dr. Nayan Moni Biswas, Sr. Divisional Medical Officer/Gynecologist/Howrah, focused on the management of diabetes in pregnant women. Dr. Debjani Mukherjee, Additional Chief Medical Superintendent/Ophthalmology/Howrah, spoke about diabetes retinopathy. Dr. Anupa Ghosh, Additional Chief Medical Superintendent/Howrah, provided practical tips for administering insulin injections.
