Odissi Nritya Guru Monalisa Ghosh awarded with Nataraj Samman by Sanskar Bharati, Dakhshin Banga.

Kolkata, Ramamoi Bharatvarse Lokkarpan is Sanskar Bharati’s cultural mural with images from the “Ramayana Gatha in West Bengal temples”. On Sunday, this year’s Dewalpanji Lokarpan and New Year Abahan ceremony was organized at National Library, Dr. Shyamaprasad Mukhopadhyay Bhasha Bhavan in Kolkata on April 7. On this day’s occasion Guru Monalisa Ghosh, the Internationally famed Odissi exponent, Choreographer and guru , was honored with the Nataraj award by the organization in the presence of eminent personalities of Kolkata, Dr. Sarup Prasad Ghosh, Director of Maulana Abul Kalam Azad Institute of Asian Studies, and Chairman Dr. Radharaman Chakraborty , special guests Director of National Library Kolkata Dr. Ajay Pratap Singh, Archaeologist Dr. Shubo Majumder, Eminent Educationist Dr. Jayant Raychowdhury, Dakshineshwar Kalimandir’s Achi Sri Kushal Chowdhury, Sri Jayant Pal, publisher of Swastika magazine, Smt.Nilanjana Roy, editor of Sanskar Bharati Central Samiti, Sri Subhash Bhattacharya of Bharatiya Sanskriti Nyas. Guru Monalisa Ghosh was honoured for her enormous effort in spreading and propagating Odissi Dance with the ancient philosophy,Spiritualism and sculptural beauty in every corner of Europe and her dedication in training under privileged youth in India.

Her colossal contribution in the field of Indian Classical Dance was crowned by Sanskar Bharati with Nataraj Samman.Sanskar Bharti’s Sanskar Dwalpanji (1431) was published with this Ramayana saga in Mandirgatra of Bangabhumi. Ramayana Gatha has been very beautifully presented in the Mandirgatra of Bengal in the limited scope of Sanskar Bharti West Bengal Cultural Wall Register published this year with the support of Maulana Abul Kalam Azad Institute of Asian Studies and Eastern Cultural Center. Artist Shirshya Acharya has decorated this mural. All those who have supported Sanskar Bharti by providing images and information in this work were honored on this day’s occasion. Sanskar Bharti’s launch of this year’s Dewalpanji Lokarpan and New Year’s Invocation ceremony was accompanied by dance and song. Apart from Gaudiya Nritya melodious Ramgaan were also composed and performed.

Selected parts of Rabindranath Tagore’s dance drama, ‘Valmiki Pratibha’ were enacted under the direction of Guru Monalisa Ghosh. Somsuvra Dasgupta as Balmiki, Suvojit Dutta, Simran Chakraborty, Srijita Das and Paromita Mondal as robbers, Simantani Chakraborty as lost girl, Tanusree Neogi, Atasi Biswas, and Sanchita Sen as Bonodebi, Chumki Chakraborty as Laxmi and Guru Monalisa Ghosh as Saraswati received immense appreciation from the audience for their appropriate presentation.Sri Tilak Sengupta, South Bengal Genreral Secretary of the organization, conducted the entire program of the day.
