Oil Tanker Goods Train Derails in Kharagpur Yard, No Impact on Passenger Services

Kharagpur, West Medinipur : Panic gripped the railway administration on Wednesday afternoon when a goods train carrying oil-filled tankers derailed inside the yard of Kharagpur Railway Station. Fortunately, the accident occurred just before the train was to enter the main line, preventing any disruption to passenger train operations and averting a major disaster.

Railway sources confirmed that the goods train was moving from the yard towards the main track when it passed three consecutive signals. Moments later, several wagons derailed suddenly.
