On February 27, the Animal Welfare Board of India will honor animal protection advocates.

The Animal Welfare Board of India (AWBI) has declared its Prani Mitra and Jeev Daya Award Ceremony to take place at Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi, on 27th February 2025. The event will be honored by the Union Ministers of State for Fisheries, Animal Husbandry, and Dairying, Prof. S. P. Singh Baghel and Shri George Kurian. The AWBI Award Ceremony will feature Ms. Alka Upadhyaya, Secretary of the Animal Husbandry Department, Dr. Abhijit Mitra, Animal Husbandry Commissioner and AWBI Chairman, along with representatives from State Animal Welfare Boards, District SPCAs, Gau Seva Aayogs, animal enthusiasts, and various Animal Welfare Organizations.
The prizes will be awarded in two main categories: Prani Mitra Award and Jeev Daya Award. The Prani Mitra Award will be presented in five sub-categories: Advocacy (Individual), Innovative Idea (Individual), Lifetime Animal Service (Individual), in addition to two awards for Animal Welfare Organizations and for Corporates, PSUs, Government Agencies, or Co-operatives. The Jeev Daya Award will be awarded in three subcategories: Individual, Animal Welfare Organization, and for Schools, Institutions, Teachers, or Children.
This initiative seeks to honor exceptional individuals and organizations for their significant contributions to animal care and safeguarding. The main goal of this celebration is to recognize and promote kindness and compassion for animals within the community while educating citizens to treat animals humanely.
