ChatGPT Health, a new feature introduced by OpenAI, will serve as a specialized experience for health-related information. ChatGPT Health, according to the San Francisco-based AI firm, was created in partnership with doctors to enable consumers to take a more active role in comprehending and managing their health and wellness.

“Health is already one of the most common ways people use ChatGPT, with hundreds of millions of people asking health and wellness questions each week,” OpenAI said in a blog post, adding that over 230 million people globally ask its chatbot health and wellness-related questions every week.

“ChatGPT Health builds on this so responses are informed by your health information and context. You can now securely connect medical records and wellness apps—like Apple Health, Function, and MyFitnessPal—so ChatGPT can help you understand recent test results, prepare for appointments with your doctor, get advice on how to approach your diet and workout routine, or understand the trade-offs of different insurance options based on your healthcare patterns,” it added.

According to OpenAI, users can also link their health data, such as wellness apps or medical records, to make sure that ChatGPT’s responses are more based on their personal health information. Additionally, the company claims that health-related memories are kept apart and never reappear in non-health-related conversations.

These memories can be viewed or removed at any time by users. To request access to the new functionality, users can join the waitlist. Once they have access, users can navigate to “Health” from ChatGPT’s sidebar. Currently, individuals in the United States are the only ones who can access certain apps and medical record integrations.
