Pakistani soldiers’ pants paraded in Afghanistan by Taliban

News Mania Desk / Piyal Chatterjee / 16th October 2025

Taliban members allegedly exhibited Pakistani troops’ trousers as they rejoiced in Afghanistan following the border skirmishes between Afghanistan and Pakistan. A 48-hour ceasefire was agreed upon by both parties, which both bordering countries credited to one another. The expression ‘caught with their pants down’ proved to be completely accurate for the Pakistani army during the turmoil.

As tensions between the South Asian neighbors increased, authorities from both sides declared on Wednesday that they had reached an agreement to a temporary ceasefire. The two nations will begin a 48-hour “temporary ceasefire” at 13:00 GMT on Wednesday, according to a statement from Islamabad’s foreign ministry, which also stated that the truce was agreed upon at Kabul’s request.

Zabihullah Mujahid, a spokesman for the Afghan Taliban government, claimed that the ceasefire was reached due to “insistence of the Pakistani side.”

He said that Kabul has instructed its forces to follow the truce as long as the other side did not start attacking again.

In addition to praising the ceasefire, UN rights chief Volker Turk urged “both parties to prevent any further harm to civilians and commit to a lasting ceasefire”. The combat between the two Islamic nations on Wednesday was the most intense since the Taliban seized control of Kabul in 2021.

Islamabad requested that the Afghan Taliban government rein in its militants, who had increased their attacks in Pakistan, claiming they were operating from Afghanistan’s shelter. This led to the current confrontations.

The Taliban, however, rejected the accusation and charged that the Pakistani army was attempting to undermine Kabul’s stability and sovereignty by fostering border conflicts, disseminating false information about Afghanistan, and providing sanctuary to terrorists with ties to ISIS. Pakistan responded by refuting the Taliban’s accusations.

According to the Afghan Taliban, Pakistani troops attacked Spin Boldak, killing at than a dozen of its citizens and injuring 100 more. Islamabad denied launching these assaults, alleging four of its people were injured in attacks by “Taliban forces” in Chaman area, opposite Spin Boldak across the frontier.

Humanitarian group Emergency NGO runs a surgical centre in Kabul, a facility for war victims, said it received five dead people and 35 injured.

Dejan Panic, the facility’s country director in Afghanistan, said, “We started receiving ambulances filled with wounded people, and we learned that there had been explosions a few kilometres away from our hospital.”

“They have shrapnel wounds, blunt force trauma and burns,” Dejan added.
