The Ram Temple in Ayodhya witnessed a historic moment as Prime Minister Narendra Modi led the flag-hoisting ceremony to mark the formal completion of the temple’s construction. The event comes less than a year after the consecration of the Ram Lalla idol, a milestone celebrated nationwide in January 2024.

The ceremony, held in the temple complex, symbolises the culmination of years of planning, phased construction and coordinated efforts by architects, artisans and devotees associated with the project. Senior officials, temple trustees, seers, and thousands of devotees gathered to witness the occasion, which reflects both cultural significance and national sentiment.

According to officials from the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust, the completion marks the beginning of the next phase of development around the temple precinct, including improved pilgrim amenities, crowd management systems and infrastructure upgrades in Ayodhya.

Prime Minister Modi, in his address, acknowledged the collective contributions that made the temple’s completion possible and highlighted its importance as a symbol of faith, heritage and unity. The flag-hoisting served as both a ceremonial and spiritual affirmation of the temple’s readiness for full-scale public visitation.

With the formal completion now declared, Ayodhya is expected to see a significant rise in pilgrim footfall, boosting tourism and local economic activity. Authorities have already initiated preparations to handle increased crowds during upcoming festivals and auspicious occasions.

The ceremony marks another landmark in Ayodhya’s ongoing transformation, reinforcing the city’s prominence as a major cultural and spiritual centre.
