Prime Minister Narendra Modi, speaking at the CII post-Budget conference in Delhi, articulated a bold vision for India’s future. Reflecting on the country’s journey since gaining independence, he highlighted the transformation from a poor nation in 1947 to a developed country by its 100th year of independence in 2047.

PM Modi emphasized that while India faced exploitation and challenges during its early years, it has consistently strived to overcome these hurdles. He assured that by 2047, India would be celebrated globally as a developed nation. “We achieved independence as a poor nation and those who wished to exploit us did so until the very end. In 100 years, after overcoming numerous challenges and meeting our goals, India will mark its 100th year of independence as a developed country in 2047,” said Modi.

The Prime Minister outlined the BJP-led NDA government’s commitment to this vision, aiming to create a Viksit Bharat (developed India) for future generations. He noted that the world is closely observing India’s progress, with its policies, determination, and investments forming a strong foundation for global advancement. Investors and world leaders are increasingly optimistic about India, presenting a significant opportunity for the country’s industries.

Modi also mentioned his discussion with state leaders during a NITI Aayog meeting, where he encouraged the preparation of investor-friendly charters to attract global investment. “Investors from around the world are eager to come here and world leaders are also optimistic about India. This presents a significant opportunity for our industries that we must not miss,” he stated.

Highlighting India’s economic growth, Modi pointed out that the country is currently growing at a rate of eight percent. He expressed confidence that India, now the world’s fifth-largest economy, would soon become the third-largest. “This change is not just about sentiment, it is driven by confidence. Today, India is the world’s fifth-largest economy and it won’t be long before India becomes the third-largest economy,” he said.

In his speech, Modi criticized politicians who forget their promises after winning elections. He contrasted this with his commitment to transforming India into the third-largest economy during his third term. “Politicians often forget their promises after winning elections. However, I remember the promise for India to become the third-largest economy during my third term,” he assured.

The Prime Minister also highlighted the significant increases in budget allocations across various sectors under his administration compared to the previous UPA government. He noted that the railway budget had increased by eight percent, the highways budget had risen, agriculture spending had grown by over four percent, and the defense budget had increased by over two percent. “India is focusing on every sector of the economy. Compared to the UPA’s ten-year government, we have increased the railway budget by eight percent. The highways budget has also risen, agriculture spending has grown by over four percent, and the defense budget has increased by over two percent,” Modi added.

India’s vision for 2047 is not just about economic growth but also about building a robust, inclusive, and developed nation. The commitment of the current government to infrastructure development, investment-friendly policies, and sectoral growth is paving the way for a prosperous future. As India moves forward, the world watches with keen interest, anticipating the realization of this ambitious vision.
