Prime Minister Narendra Modi is gearing up to lead the Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) election campaign in western Uttar Pradesh, heralding a series of rallies and roadshows aimed at galvanizing support ahead of the 2024 Lok Sabha polls.

Having already addressed three rallies in Meerut, Saharanpur, and Pilibhit, Modi’s magnetic appeal is set to draw crowds as he embarks on a whirlwind tour across the region. Scheduled to kick off on April 19 from Amroha, which is due for polls in the second phase on April 26, Modi’s itinerary includes “at least four” more rallies and a roadshow spanning seven days.

Amroha holds particular significance for the BJP, as it was among the 16 Lok Sabha seats lost by the party in 2019. Recognizing the transformative impact of Modi’s rallies, BJP strategists are keen to leverage his immense popularity to sway voters not just within the constituency but also in neighboring regions. With each Modi rally seen as a potential game-changer, meticulous planning is underway to ensure maximum outreach and impact. However, accommodating the overwhelming demand for Modi’s presence presents a logistical challenge, given the clamor for his rallies from all 80 Lok Sabha constituencies. Despite the constraints, the BJP is prioritizing rallies strategically to maximize their electoral dividends, with an eye on bolstering the prospects of multiple candidates across the state.

The contest in Amroha has intensified with the entry of Kunwar Danish Ali, the sitting BSP MP who secured victory in 2019. Now contesting on the Congress ticket, Ali’s candidacy adds a new dimension to the electoral dynamics, especially as the Congress forges pre-poll alliances with the Samajwadi Party.

The upcoming Modi rally in Amroha holds symbolic significance for the BJP, as it seeks to reclaim a seat that has eluded its grasp since 1984. With the Congress eyeing a resurgence, Modi’s endorsement of BJP candidate Kanwar Singh Tanwar underscores the party’s determination to break the opposition’s stranglehold in the region. In a bid to counter Modi’s influence, a joint rally featuring Rahul Gandhi and Akhilesh Yadav is slated to follow shortly after. Recognizing the ripple effect of Modi’s rallies, leaders from rival parties are gearing up to intensify their own campaign efforts in response.

Following his engagements in Amroha, Modi is slated to return with rallies for the Hathras and Aligarh Lok Sabha seats on April 22. Both constituencies, with their significant Dalit and minority populations, hold strategic importance for the BJP, which is aiming to consolidate its electoral base and secure a decisive mandate.

The party’s decision to field new candidates in Hathras and retain its sitting MP in Aligarh underscores its commitment to adapt its strategy to local dynamics and emerging electoral trends. With Modi’s charismatic presence set to energize supporters and sway undecided voters, the BJP is leaving no stone unturned in its quest for electoral victory.

Looking ahead, Modi’s rally for party candidates in Agra and Fatehpur Sikri Lok Sabha seats on April 25 is expected to further amplify the party’s electoral prospects. As the countdown to the polls begins, the political landscape in western Uttar Pradesh is poised for a seismic shift, with Modi’s campaign blitz promising to redefine the contours of electoral competition in the region.
