Priyanka Gandhi accuses BJP of a lack of funding

News Mania Desk / Piyal Chatterjee / 29th October 2024

Congresswoman Priyanka Gandhi Vadra stepped up her campaign for the Wayanad by-election on Tuesday, accusing the Central government, led by the Bharatiya Janata Party, of failing to provide any funding for the restoration of the hill district’s landslide-affected districts.

According to Priyanka, the Narendra Modi government’s stance at the center shows a lack of regard for the people and the country, which is also clear from the policies it has implemented over the past ten years in power.

Speaking at a corner meeting in Eengapuzha, the Congress leader claimed that the Modi government’s policies never benefited the general populace and instead favored the prime minister’s five to six business associates.

In reference to the Wayanad landslides, she stated that the PM visited the district, spoke with the impacted individuals and places, and assured them of various forms of assistance. She asserted that months later, the Central government had not contributed any money to the impacted individuals’ rehabilitation.

In this by-election, Priyanka is running for the first time against two-term Kozhikode Corporation councilor Navya Haridas of the BJP and veteran LDF politician Sathyan Mokeri, a former MLA. Rahul Gandhi resigned the seat after winning the Rai Bareli seat in the most recent parliamentary elections, necessitating the by-election. On November 13, there will be a by-election.
