Rabindranath Tagore’s 165th Birth Anniversary celebrated by Rabindra Bharati University in Kolkata 

Rabindranath Tagore’s 165th Birth anniversary was celebrated  across India and around the world on 9th May 2025  or 25th Boisakh 1432 Bongabdo.  Rabindranath Tagore’s Birthday is observed according to Bengali Hindu calendar system .

 Rabindra Bharati University   situated at  Jorasanko Thakurbari which is also birth place of Rabindranath Tagore celebrated Rabindranath’s Birth anniversary  through a series of cultural programs through the day  which includes live performance  of songs , recitation, reading, dance drama ,play written by Rabindranath Tagore.

Vice – Chancellor of Rabindranath Bharati University Justice(Retired) Subhro Kamal Mukherjee  offered floral tribute   to the soul of Rabindranath at his birth room and death room as well as garlanded statue of Rabindranath at Jorasanko Thakurbari complex.

Speaking to Partha Roy , Justice Mukherjee mentioned Rabindranath Tagore tried to combine Lord Macaulay ‘ s English education system and indigenous Bharatiya Gurukul system  when  Rabindranath established Viswa Bharati University. Justice Mukherjee emphasized spread of quality education across all sections of the society is critically important for healthy development of the society as well as to create economically prosperous Bharat.

Justice Mukherjee indicated he and his team are working to improve quality of education at Rabindra Bharati University.

Dr. Sraboni Pal Acting Registrar of RBU , Shri Siddhartha Mukhopadhyay General Secretary of Rabindra Bharati Society alongwith eminent personalities from art and culture, academics , politics, media attended various programs in morning and in evening.
