The Rajkot TRP Game Zone fire incident, which claimed 28 lives, including four children, has led to the arrest of the main accused, Dhaval Thakkar. Thakkar was apprehended by Banaskantha crime branch police and Rajkot Police from Rajasthan on Sunday. A resident of Abu Road in Rajasthan, Thakkar fled after the fire, making him the fourth individual arrested in connection with this tragic event.
Earlier, three men – Yuvrajsinh Solanki, Nitin Jain, and Rahul Rathod – were arrested for their involvement in the game zone fire. The additional judicial magistrate BP Thakar’s court remanded the trio in police custody for two weeks. Special public prosecutor Tushar Gokani reported that Yuvrajsinh Solanki attempted to feign remorse during his court appearance. “When he entered the court, he tried to project that he had remorse for the incident and everyone felt that he was crying. After five minutes, he was laughing and arguing with the court,” Gokani said.
The behavior of the accused in court has been concerning. Solanki’s apparent lack of genuine remorse and his cavalier attitude towards the tragedy was noted by the court. This underscores the severity of the charges they face and the importance of thorough investigation and justice.
The main ground for the police remand was the lack of cooperation from the accused. “They are giving ‘evasive replies’ to whatever questions are asked and claiming that documents were burnt in the incident. An FIR was lodged against six partners of the TRP game zone on charges of culpable homicide after the fire on May 25. The arrested include Dhaval Thakkar, Yuvrajsinh Solanki, Rahul Rathod, and the recreation center manager, Nitin Jain. The charges encompass culpable homicide (IPC section 304), attempt to commit culpable homicide (IPC section 308), causing hurt by an act endangering life or personal safety (IPC section 337), causing grievous hurt (IPC section 338), and presence during the commission of the offense (IPC section 114).
The partners of Raceway Enterprises, including Ashoksinh Jadeja, Kiritsinh Jadeja, and Prakashchand Hiran, are also implicated in the case.
