News Mania Desk / Piyal Chatterjee / 9th October 2025

Actor Ranbir Kapoor recently opened up about his career journey and privilege during a panel at Celebrate Cinema 2025 hosted by Whistling Woods International. In a candid conversation, he admitted that he is “a product of nepotism” but emphasized that his success did not come without effort and perseverance.

Ranbir, a fourth-generation member of the legendary Kapoor film dynasty, stated that while belonging to a film family made his entry into Bollywood easier, it also came with immense pressure and expectations. “I got it very easy in life,” he confessed, “but if I didn’t create my own identity, I wouldn’t survive.” He acknowledged that his lineage offered opportunities, yet sustaining a career required consistent hard work, discipline, and the ability to connect with audiences.

Reflecting on his upbringing, the actor shared that growing up in the Kapoor household felt “normal” to him. He described his family as creatively charged, often engaged in intense discussions about art, lyrics, and performances rather than ordinary domestic matters. He said these interactions shaped his understanding of cinema and storytelling from an early age.

Ranbir also touched on how both the triumphs and failures of his illustrious family have influenced him. While many focus on their success, he said the Kapoor legacy is equally defined by its setbacks, which taught him resilience and humility.

On the work front, Ranbir was last seen in the blockbuster Animal and is preparing for two major upcoming films — Love and War, directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali and co-starring Alia Bhatt and Vicky Kaushal, and Nitesh Tiwari’s Ramayana, where he will play the role of Lord Ram.

Ranbir’s reflections offered an honest glimpse into the balance between privilege and personal effort in sustaining stardom in Bollywood.
