Ranju Alex has been named CEO of Accor, a large hotel company with its headquarters in Paris, for South Asia, which encompasses Bangladesh, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, and India.

With more than 70 hotels already operating in the area and more than 30 planned, Accor is the operator of several brands, including Raffles, Fairmont, and Sofitel. With more than thirty years of experience in the hospitality industry, Alex most recently served as Marriott International’s regional vice president for South Asia, where he oversaw a portfolio of 170 hotels. She started working for The Oberoi Group in 1993 and has held a number of executive positions at Marriott. She received the Bharat Gaurav award for her industrial contributions earlier this year.

Her appointment coincides with Accor and InterGlobe’s pending regulatory clearance of a joint venture proposal that would combine their hospitality companies into one.

“She brings a wealth of experience, skills and relationships into our business and we look forward to building the foremost hospitality platform in the region under her leadership,” said Gaurav Bhushan, chairman of the proposed Accor-InterGlobe JV.
