In a recent interview, actor Ranvir Shorey candidly discussed the painful breakup with actor-filmmaker Pooja Bhatt, alleging that Pooja’s father, Mahesh Bhatt, played a role in spreading false narratives about him. Shorey, who gained prominence as a contestant on ‘Bigg Boss OTT’ Season 3, revealed how the fallout from their relationship turned him into a scapegoat, further complicating his public image.
During a conversation with Siddharth Kanan, Shorey recounted the turmoil of his breakup with Pooja Bhatt, describing it as one of the most challenging periods of his life. He claimed that Mahesh Bhatt manipulated the situation to his disadvantage, making him appear as a drunken abuser in the media. Shorey recounted a troubling sequence of events where Bhatt first assured his father that the issues between the couple were resolved, only to subsequently leak misleading stories to the press.
Shorey reflected on the deceptive tactics he believed were employed against him, stating, “At the time of our conflict, I felt that the respect I had for Mahesh Bhatt was used manipulatively. After the altercation, he told my father that the matter was settled, but the next day, he proceeded to spread falsehoods about me, painting me as an alcoholic and abusive person. It was all fabricated.”
The actor also shared a distressing incident involving Pooja Bhatt’s brother, who allegedly assaulted him during the height of their relationship issues. This altercation, according to Shorey, exacerbated the tensions and further strained his relationship with Pooja Bhatt. He expressed frustration, saying, “Mahesh Bhatt could have intervened to prevent such behavior from his family members. It felt like he was manipulative in handling the situation.”
Shorey and Pooja Bhatt’s relationship began in the early 2000s, evolving from a friendship into a romantic involvement. They lived together before their relationship eventually deteriorated. Following their breakup, Pooja Bhatt publicly accused Shorey of physical violence, an allegation that further tarnished his reputation. In contrast, Shorey moved on to marry actress Konkona Sen Sharma in 2010, and they welcomed a son, Haroon, in 2011. However, Shorey and Sen Sharma separated in 2015. Pooja Bhatt also faced marital challenges, separating from her husband Manish Makhija in 2014.
