Rayo Vallecano Shocks Real Madrid, Christian Eriksen Is Picked To Denmark’s Preliminary Team, And Lewis Hamilton Receives Honorary Brazilian Citizenship

Christian Eriksen, a midfielder for Manchester United, has been nominated to Denmark’s preliminary squad for the Fifa World Cup in Qatar, a year after collapsing during the Euro 2020 match against Finland and receiving life-saving treatment on the field.

Eriksen, a former player for Tottenham and Inter Milan, had an implanted cardioverter defibrillator (ICD) device, a type of pacemaker, installed after experiencing a cardiac arrest.

Eriksen signed a six-month contract with Brentford at the beginning of the year after deciding to conclude his relationship with Inter Milan early since Serie A is an ineligible competition for those who have an ICD.

Prior to securing a free transfer to United in the summer, he made his international comeback in March and scored for Denmark in a friendly loss to the Netherlands two minutes after coming on.

On November 22, Denmark and Tunisia will face off.

Real Madrid’s unbeaten league campaign is ended by Rayo Vallecano in La Liga

Real Madrid’s streak of unbeaten games in La Liga came to an end when Rayo Vallecano came from behind to defeat them 3-2. The defeat left the defending champions two points behind Barcelona, their bitter rivals.

Madrid had lost just once before in all competitions, to Leipzig in the Champions League group stage last month. Madrid started this season with three draws and 15 victories.

Santi Comesaa, a midfielder for Rayo Vallecano, scored the game’s first goal from inside the box five minutes into play, but Real quickly answered and went in front with two goals in quick succession. After Marco Asensio was fouled inside the box, Luka Modric successfully converted the penalty, and Eder Militao’s towering header gave them the lead.

Alvaro Garcia, a forward for Rayo, scrambled home the equalizer just before halftime

Rayo was awarded a penalty in the 67th minute when defender Dani Carvajal handled the ball inside the penalty area. Oscar Trejo’s attempt was blocked by Thibaut Courtois, but the kick had to be retaken because Courtois departed from his line of defense too soon. Trejo did not squander his second opportunity, scoring the decisive goal.

Hamilton was granted honorary citizenship in Brazil

In front of a large crowd of boisterous supporters, Lewis Hamilton was presented with honorary citizenship in the Brazilian Congress chamber in Brasilia. He is in the nation this weekend for the Brazilian Grand Prix.

The idea was first floated by Congressman Andre Figueiredo in November, following Hamilton’s third victory at Interlagos in the Brazilian GP. On his victory lap and at the podium, the British driver waved a green and yellow Brazilian flag in honor of the home crowd.

Due to his F1 prowess and admiration for Brazilian three-time world champion Ayrton Senna, who perished in an F1 crash in 1994, Hamilton enjoys a large following in Brazil.
