Following the attack on Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta during a public hearing or “Jan Sunwai” event at her Civil Lines Camp Office on Wednesday, which raised concerns and questions about the state of law and order in the nation’s capital, her security has been upgraded to include CRPF coverage.
The current arrangements are unaffected by the CRPF’s Z category one coverage. The “Yellow Book,” which details VIP and VVIP protection procedures, contains the MHA rules. As stated in the news above, the Union home ministry reportedly instructed the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) to assume responsibility for the Delhi chief minister’s security on Thursday.
According to insiders, she was given the security cover after central intelligence agencies issued a threat perception report.
According to reports, the paramilitary group known as the VIP Security Group (VSG), which also protects Home Minister Amit Shah and the Gandhi family of the Congress party, will guard Gupta, her official residence, and the Camp Office on Raj Niwas Marg in the Civil Lines neighborhood of the nation’s capital.
According to those with knowledge of the situation, a group of 20–25 CRPF commandos and observers joined the security unit, and the 35–45 employees under Z-plus cover will remain a part of the security arrangements.
According to those with knowledge of the situation, the CRPF’s new steps will also involve controlling access to Rekha Gupta’s home, deploying security devices, and giving her close protection when she is out in public through male and female personal security officers (PSOs).
In addition to the aforementioned, it has been rumored that she will receive further significant security enhancements, such as a prohibition on direct approaches during the Jan Sunwai sessions. According to police, this is to make sure that such situations don’t happen again and that security measures are reinforced when the chief minister interacts with the public.
