Revamped Fare Structure: Enjoy Up to 25% Discount on AC Chair Car and Executive Class Travel

Commuters using the Indian Railways can now rejoice as the Ministry of Railways has introduced a new initiative aimed at offering discounted fares for travellers opting for AC chair cars and executive class on all air-conditioned trains, which also encompass Anubhuti and Vistadome coaches. Under this scheme, passengers can avail discounts of up to a maximum of 25% on the standard fare. Importantly, other charges such as reservation fees, super fast surcharges, and GST will remain unaffected by this change. The implementation of this discount is already underway, though it is noteworthy that individuals who have already made seat reservations will not be eligible for retroactive refunds.

The introduced scheme does not encompass holiday or festival special trains, and its continued efficacy will be subject to periodic review. Depending on the seat occupancy rate, the degree of this relaxation might be altered, prolonged, or revoked. In cases where the decision to withdraw the exemption is taken, the change will be promptly executed.

Moreover, this beneficial fare alteration extends to trains operating under the flexi fare scheme, albeit with certain limitations. In scenarios where seat availability is constrained, the flexible fare mechanism can potentially be suspended to accommodate the new discount structure.

In essence, this new initiative reflects the Indian Railways’ dedication to enhancing passenger comfort and affordability. By providing discounts on AC chair cars and executive class fares, the Ministry of Railways is aligning its services with the preferences and requirements of the traveling public, thereby fostering a more accessible and enjoyable railway experience.
