Route Survey For The 1660-Kilometer Delhi-Howrah Bullet Train Corridor Is Now Complete

To connect Delhi and Howrah with a high-speed bullet train service, the Indian Railways has proposed a new 760km line. In order to determine which routes and villages the project will affect, a private company was hired to conduct a route survey of the proposed high-speed rail corridor in the Giridih district of the state of Jharkhand.

The joint venture (JV) of Tila Consultants & Contractors Pvt. Ltd. and Monarch Surveyors & Engineering Consultants Pvt. Ltd. was authorized by Indian Railways in August 2021 to conduct fieldwork, prepare a detailed social impact assessment (SIA), and conduct surveys for the Varanasi-Howrah High-Speed Rail Corridor.

The path in the states where railroad tracks and bullet train stations will be built has now been thoroughly surveyed by the consultant. The construction of the high-speed train between Delhi and Howrah would take place in two stages.

From Delhi to Lucknow via Varanasi, 813 km of track will be constructed in the first phase. The distance will be increased to 942 kilometers when this road is extended to Ayodhya.

The second phase will see construction on a 718-km stretch that runs from Varanasi to Howrah via Patna.

The feasibility study for this route was finished by the international consortium INECO-TYPSA-ICT, and its report was submitted to the Railway Board in October 2020. This corridor’s construction is expected to cost roughly Rs. 5 trillion (US$63 billion).

Before arriving at its final destination, the proposed high-speed bullet train that will run between Varanasi and Howrah will stop in a number of cities in Bihar and Jharkhand. Varanasi, Buxar, Arrah, Patna, Nawada, Dhanbad, Asansol, Durgapur, Burdaman, and Howrah could all get stations for this corridor.
