RPF Hijli Arrests Two Men With Cannabis on Kalinga Utkal Express

Hijli Kharagpur : In a major big achievement, by the officers and personnel of the RPF Post Hijli acting in coordination with (ASI)
S.C. Mudali of the Divisional Task Team KGP, and under the supervision of the OC of RPF Post Hijli, Shashi Shankar detained two offenders allegedly smuggling cannabis (ganja) on the 18477 Up Kalinga Utkal Express.
According to official information, the two accused had boarded the train at Bhubaneswar and were travelling to Kota, Rajasthan. They were carrying a bag filled with cannabis (gaanja) with a quantity of 4.2 kg. The RPF Post Hijli had received prior intelligence about the movement of the suspects and kept them under surveillance.

As soon as the train arrived at Hijli station, RPF teams started searching the rear coaches of the train. The two offenders were found sitting in the last coach with the suspected cannabis (gaanja) in their possession.
It is said that the seized cannabis is worth about Rs 2,10,000.
After detention, both offenders were handed over to the Kharagpur GRP office, where they were arrested.
The successful operation shows the alertness, planning, and timely action of the officers and staff of RPF Post Hijli. Due to prior information and careful surveillance, the accused were caught red-handed while allegedly smuggling cannabis from one state to another by train.
