RPF Unearths Illegal E-Ticketing Racket at Digha; Accused Booked Under Railway Act

Kharagpur : The Railway Protection Force (RPF) of Kharagpur Division has successfully detected an illegal railway e-ticketing racket operating under the jurisdiction of RPF Post/Digha and initiated legal action against the accused.
Based on credible inputs regarding illegal procurement and sale of railway e-tickets using specific mobile numbers, a preliminary inquiry was conducted jointly by RPF/CIB/Kharagpur and RPF Post/Digha. During the inquiry, it was revealed that one individual was engaged in unauthorized e-ticketing activities using multiple IRCTC personal user IDs for personal gain.
Accordingly, a case vide No. 60/2026 dated 30.03.2026 under Section 143 of the Railway Act was registered at RPF Post/Digha against the accused. The investigation was entrusted to the concerned Inquiry Officer, who initiated further legal proceedings and served notice under relevant provisions of BNSS.
In compliance with the notice, the accused appeared before RPF Post/Digha on 01.04.2026 and produced a mobile handset along with relevant documents. During interrogation, it was found that he was operating multiple IRCTC user IDs and had booked several live as well as used railway e-tickets through these IDs. 03 numbers of live E-tickets and 12 nos. of old and used railway tickets were found in his possession. He also admitted to charging an extra amount ranging from ₹100 to ₹300 per ticket from passengers for personal profit.
Further examination of the mobile device led to the detection of multiple e-tickets and user IDs linked to the illegal activity. The mobile phone and related evidence were seized under proper procedure in the presence of witnesses. The accused confessed his involvement in the offence and the case is under further investigation. Relevant documents have been forwarded to the Hon’ble Court for necessary legal action.
RPF reiterates its commitment to curb illegal ticketing activities and urges passengers to book tickets only through authorized channels to avoid fraud and ensure a safe and transparent railway system.
